WHY ME?

Each time you try on a dress and feel bad that it does not flatter, you ask yourself, Why me?

When the weighing scale keeps rising every time you step on it, you ask yourself, Why me?

Watching continuous body transformation videos, motivational talks, diet plans and so much more, but still when nothing changes you ask Why me?

This is a weird question you know. Each one of us in our life is stuck with this question in various ways. It’s easy to say, “Hey, get over it and be proud of whom you are…”  Really? Is it that easy? No, it’s not. “You’re just lazy to work out!” “You are not disciplined enough” “Why do you care what people say?” and the worst line “You are beautiful inside and out” (do we really feel this way?) When you constantly listen to this it’s like eating a chill and staying calm. It’s too hot for you, but still, you have to be proud of it. Some of them put on a calm face but, it’s still burning on the insides.

It’s very hard to feel beautiful when you scroll through pictures of influencers and fashionable women with a gorgeous body. You start to think, I would never get into that or I would never look that good. An amazing effort has been put towards raising the body-shaming issues and bringing up the concept for “All Shapes & Sizes”, however does it really matter for a person who is constantly on the verge of looking good? For a woman who has given up on looking good completely, just because she can’t see her bulges everywhere through the outfits.

However, fashion-forward the society gets or accept the women by who she is, it is still unacceptable or ‘shameless’ when she wears a plunging neckline; especially a plumpy women. “Oh! Don’t wear that top, your chest looks bigger” “Those pants are way too tight for you, your thighs look fat” we all have heard this; it might be you telling it to someone or they telling it to you.

I’m not telling it’s wrong to point out, but for a woman who constantly looks in the mirror to hate her body, it’s difficult to digest. Sometimes you just smile and get over with those words, or laugh it out with them. Deep inside those words hurt and worse the next time she tries to dress up, it lowers her left-over confidence as well.

There a few people who have got over this and have created an image about themselves, but how much of it is true? After dieting the whole day and posting on the media about it, she may eat chocolate and cry out all night. The happy face that does the plus-size model shoot, sulks within when she is categorized in it. In these moments that weird question comes up again, “Why Me?”

The next time you give out free advice to any kind of people, be it fat, skinny, short, dark or anything. Please, SHUT UP! Not everyone will have the courage to talk back.

Our Environment

World Environment Day…
Is it only about nature?

I think environment can also be the people around you and the animals around you. Taking care of our surroundings is not only good for others but also for ourself. The more you stay away from being around  a toxic environment, the less toxic you become. Let’s face it! We all are in one or the other way harming our environment.
So, from now on why not try to be mindful about our connection with the environment and make our heart, mind and soul more greener.

WHAT IF?

Isn’t this the question we ask ourselves every time we are unhappy or life is taking a hard turn? Regret about the past can make us go what if I had…? Or a memory from the past haunts this question. The only word that forbids us from living the current life and enjoying the present is ‘WHAT IF?’ Reading this, you are thinking about your ‘what if?’ now.

What if I had married the person my parents selected for me, would I be suffering like this? What if I had pursued my love and had not given in to my parent’s wishes, would I have a happy marriage? What if I had taken a secure 9-5 job instead of hustling as an entrepreneur every day? What if I had quit my job and pursued my passion? What if I had expressed myself before the time was no more?

These are the haunting thoughts from the past. We ask ourselves such questions in the hope of being better than, where we are. When we want to change our present situation, we look for the answers from the past by questioning them. It’s an attempt to make yourself feel better which in turn will make you regret so many decisions in life.  These thoughts will not give any answers to your current problems but it will complicate further. Regrets are meant to be with us till our memories fade which will seem like forever. Will you keep sulking over it or move ahead to make life better?

You are the one who decided to take that path, you chose the career and it was your choice so Own it! Instead of thinking about the past, think of the present possibilities. Trust your choice; take a step on how to make it better. Change your ‘What If’ into ‘How Can I’. Pick up the keys, sit on the driver’s seat, take the steering in your hands and drive it towards your goal. Even if you end up taking a U- turn, don’t look back.

Style Recap: Four More Shots Please

This story has seen much appreciation as much as it’s seen hatred. Some people have genuinely loved this dynamic of ferocious feminism and also who have opposed it. In my case, It’s pure love for me. When the world takes women for granted, this torches the grey areas of a women’s life.

When every fairy tale asks for a happy ending with a prince charming by the side, this series stands tall by portraying, a man is not the one who completes a woman’s world. This series consists of the journey of friendship, love, lust, desires, social status, and problems the four women go through. Undoubtedly when there are women there is the fashion and glamor with a pinch of sass which I was keenly looking for.

Don’t be perfect, Be Amazing.

Enough of this elaboration about society and its thoughts, as we know you will always be judged no matter what! So, let’s get down to the 4 amazing ladies who were the characters of the series.

1. Damini – The Fierce

A journalist who gets fired by a company she founded and tries to publish a controversial book is Damini. Instead of dwelling on her love life, I would love to point out her audacity to overcome her OCD which was developed due to her childhood experiences. The way she stood strong despite the miscarriage situation and the courage to go with the flow of life was indeed praised worthy.
When it comes down to her style the pop of reds and pinks on the lip shows her fearlessness. Her outfits are chic, sexy, and stylish which are mostly in solid colors. The silhouette worn flaunts her body and the bold color adds essence to her persona. My personal favorites were the power suits in orange as well as crimson. She absolutely emits the girl boss vibes in them.

2. Anjana – The Badass

Next up is the sophisticated independent mom, Anjana. Besides independently taking care of a kid, managing expenses of life and breastfeeding in the bar, she gets brownie points for standing up against the male chauvinist pig of a boss. She treats her ex-husband’s wife as a friend and also helps her through the months of pregnancy, understanding her needs. The life of a mother, who should even think twice to live her life the way she wants. At every step, the thought of her child haunts her, is what makes her special. Sometimes she does make mistakes like all others but also dares to correct it and move ahead in life.
Her formal blazers and shirts are so chic that I just felt like stealing them right away. It’s not overpowering, as the colors were simple that’s apt for the workspace. One of the looks that I adored was the Sangeeth look in season 2, she looked stunning in that black lehenga. The cuts and sequence worked best for her personality as the minimal accessories took it a notch higher.

3. Siddhi – The Rebel

The chubby Sidhi-Pidhi stole the show with her bubbly attitude and witty humor. Her way of realizing her body’s worth and later her talent was a shocker. The best part was, she still had a small child in her and that innocence was all we loved. Her character highlighted many stereotypes and issues that women face in everyday life. As a curvy woman, she was body shammed throughout but she did not give away her identity till the end. She stays strong even though she is criticized for her weight and virginity.
Her outfits are as passionate as she is with her life. The empire lines that flaunt her curves are so well put together that she looks gorgeous in everything. My pick from her style would be the strong crimson jumpsuit she wears in Istanbul. I think the color compliments her skin tone beautifully and the silhouette works wonders for her, specially the belt that pops out.

4. Umang – The Fearless

The last corner to complete the square is Umang, a fitness trainer who struggles to find love in this judgemental world. As a bisexual character, she always dreams of happy-ending love life which of course she has a right to do so. However, she loses herself by giving away all the love she has. This portrays her strength to love unconditionally no matter what. The best part is she does find her self-importance back and decides to live life for herself at the end.
Her style was mostly athleisure as it suited her profession but, she rocked the traditional looks like none. The lehenga with tattoos was a sexy combination and she managed to pull it off with such grace and confidence. She showed how women can play various roles in life, from being a small-town girl to a celebrity fitness trainer she gave her best in every situation. One of my favorite looks of her was the Diwali look in a silk saree. I was not expecting her with a sleeveless blouse and in a silk saree but, she looked flawless in it.

A Story of Four Imperfect Women

With One Perfect Friendship

All the credits go to the writers and directors of the series. Most of all loved the overall styling of every character which was done by Aastha Sharma and the team. This story is as fabulous as the fashion in the series. So, keep an eye for their styles every time and also the hurdles they pass through. I will recommend all women to watch it with their girl gang as it’s like a mini version of Veerey Di Wedding. I would definitely look forward to the next season of Four More Shots Please.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP IS NOT FOR INTROVERTS

Have you ever felt the same way or have people pointed out to you? You feel you have the creative ideas and talent but when it comes to expressing it, you hinder. Even after seeing various ted-talks and motivational videos, you still have self-doubt which makes you wonder ‘Can I Really Do It?’.

When people around you are heartily talking, expressing and being the center of attraction, you stand aside wishing it would be you. Aspiring to be a strong person is not wrong; however, there should be a part of you that has to come out of the comfort zone. Entrepreneurship is all about network, communication and making connections. If you are not able to speak up and present your point, then how can you build a business?

“Once you become fearless, you become limitless”

Equip yourself with various tools and excel in what you can do the best. Social media is one of the strongest weapons one can possess. Be it introverts or extroverts you are equals in front of the screen, so use it to your advantage. A platform where you can share your thoughts and ideas, without being worried about what people will react to it. Write articles, create wonderful posts, give a podcast and so much more.

Maybe we have faced the judging look, maybe you have felt others are better than you as they can speak out or present better. This should not stop you from doing what you want to do. Stand up for yourself and be the top of your game.

Make your new year goals come to life. It’s just been a few days so go ahead and rock it!
